Tottenham have won the race to sign highly-rated teenager Destiny Udogie from Udinese for €20m (£17m), although he will stay with the Italian club on loan for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old has attracted a lot of attention, with Italian giants and Inter Milan both keen on him, while Brighton also made their interest in him known.
Manager and sporting director Fabio Paratici are big fans of the left-back who played 35 times in Serie A last season, scoring five goals.
report that Paratici’s good relationship with Udinese helped Spurs win the race for the young full-back, while they were also prepared to spend pretty big on him, while Juve and Inter were not.
Udogie made his debut for home town club Hellas Verona in 2020 at just 17 years old before moving to Udinese and quickly becoming a fixture in their first team despite his age.
He is yet to win a cap for Italy, but has been a regular at youth level from Under-16 up to Under-21 level. He enjoyed a run to the final of the Under-17 Europen Championship where the Italians were beaten by Netherlands.
Spurs have already brought in Ivan Perisic, 33, this summer and he will compete with Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon for the left wing-back slot in Conte’s formation this season.
Sessegnon started and scored in the 4-1 win over Southampton in Tottenham’s opening game of the season with Perisic replacing him for the final 25 minutes.
