has urged former club to beat rivals Liverpool and to the signing of Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old scored in Dortmund’s 4-1 win against Sevilla and provided an assist, making him the first teenage midfielder in the competition’s history to score in three consecutive appearances.
Bellingham has shone for Dortmund since his move to Germany and he was even named captain last night as the Bundesliga giants took control of their group.
The former midfielder chose Dortmund over Manchester United in 2020, despite meeting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona at Carrington to discuss a move to Old Trafford.
Bellingham is now expected to leave Dortmund next summer as he enters the final two years of his deal with the club.
The Germans are seeking around £130m to let the England star leave the club, with Liverpool and City leading the race for his signature.
But Ferdinand has urged his former club to join the running, with the ex-England skipper tagging United and putting the ‘phone emoji’ on Twitter to accompany his comments on BT Sport that Bellingham is a ‘beast’.
‘We said it as soon as we saw it, what he’s doing in his position, at his age, we haven’t seen. The best of our generation, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Vieira, Roy Keane, those guys weren’t doing this,” he told BT Sport.
‘I’m just saying that they weren’t doing this. He’s still got to go on an prove it and do it over a long period of time. But they weren’t doing what he is doing right now. Influencing a game at this level, captaining a team at this level.
‘He’s the full package and mentally, this kid’s a beast. No doubts about that. One thing you have to say about him, whoever gets him, one question that won’t have to be answered is the temperament.
‘When you’re making big transfers, the temperament is the key thing you need to get right. This kid has already proved that his temperament is not even a question mark.’
