insists he is ‘feeling good’ as the defender races to recover from injury in time for the .

The former defender suffered an injury in the second-half of last Saturday’s draw against Chelsea, leaving the Stamford Bridge pitch visibly upset as he feared the worst.

While the 29-year-old is set to miss United’s final run of games before the World Cup break, Varane still hopes to recover in time to play his part in Qatar where France will be looking to defend their World Cup crown.

Sharing an update from France’s national team base at Clairefontaine, Varane provided the latest on his progress, writing: Thank you everyone for the kind messages this week.

‘I have been working! Feeling good. Good luck today boys.’

United are in action at home on Sunday afternoon, taking on West Ham United.

Speaking on his defender last week, Erik ten Hag confirmed Varane will miss United’s run of six fixtures before the World Cup break.

And while the club’s medical staff are still monitoring the injury, the United boss is hopeful he will be fit to play his part in France’s campaign in Qatar.

‘Rapha Varane isn’t [in the squad]. He will be out until the World Cup,’ ten Had said, before adding on his World Cup chances: ‘I think so, but the prognosis is we have to see how it develops.’

Varane’s injury comes just as Harry Maguire is returning to fitness, with the club captain coming off the bench against Sheriff midweek after recovering from his own hamstring issue.

“Being injured is always a tough part of being a footballer, but I’ve been kicking every ball on the sidelines, cheering every goal that’s gone in and supporting the lads,’ Maguire said.

‘We’ve picked up some good results and we’re pushing [to] where we want to be in the Premier League as well.

‘We’ve got important games coming up and that’s what it’s all about.’
