There had been some speculation over where the versatile Kiwior would play, with the 22-year-old often lining up in defensive midfield – another area where Arsenal are short.
But now his agent, Pawel Zimonczyk, has confirmed that Kiwior is very much gunning for ’ position at left centre-back, with the prospect of usurping the Brazilian teased when Arsenal were pitching the move.
Speaking to , he explained: ‘The plan is clear. When I went to London Colney there was a tactical board where the players in each position were ranked 1,2,3.
‘There was an empty space under Gabriel. I don’t know if it was a tactical ploy to get us a little bit [laughs].
‘His role will be to compete with Gabriel, but Kuba has the versatility to play in other positions.’

Kiwior was at the Emirates in the director’s box for Sunday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester United and Zimonczyk has revealed how Zinchenko encouraged the new signing to join in with the celebrations after he visited the locker room, quickly helping him settle in.
He continued: ‘Kuba’s entrance into the dressing room wasn’t planned, but as soon as Zinchenko saw him he called out: “If you’re already with us, you’re already with us!”
‘I’m sure it was a cool experience for him too, after such an important win he could feel the atmosphere from the Premier League leaders’ dressing room.
‘Zinchenko dragged Jakub into the changing room after the game against Manchester United.
‘I think when he saw what kind of atmosphere there was he already wanted to join in on the pitch, to enjoy Arsenal’s push to reach the next round of the FA Cup [against Manchester City on Friday night].’
He added: ‘We knew how big a club Arsenal are, but we were captivated by how many good people – not just in terms of expertise – work at this club.’
