‘I loved every minute of it!’ – Reiss Nelson opens up on his heroic performance vs Nottingham Forest

Reiss Nelson has admitted he ‘loved every minute’ of his performance against Nottingham Forest after registering two goals and an assist.

The Arsenal winger came off the bench to replace Bukayo Saka after 27 minutes and scored twice within the space of four minutes early into the second half.

Nelson also provided an assist for in an impressive performance for the 22-year-old, who came through the Gunners academy and spent last season on loan at Dutch club Feyenoord.

The 5-0 victory moves Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table and they next face a trip to in the Premier League after a meeting with FC Zurich on Thursday.

Speaking after the 5-0 win over Forest at the Emirates, Nelson told the : ‘I thought I was just going to sit on the bench!

‘But you never know what happens it in football. Probably one of the best days and I’m delighted for it.

‘When B [Bukayo Saka] went down, it was a terrible sight to see but when I came on I loved every minute of it.

‘The gaffer wants us to implement an attacking style of play and that’s what we did.

‘It’s a great bunch of lads and I have been here since I was eight. I have always dreamed of being part of a great Arsenal team. This is a great team.’

Nelson was also quizzed about Arsenal’s celebration following Gabriel Martinelli’s opener after just five minutes, .

Mari, currently on loan at Serie A club Monza from Arsenal,  during an attack at an Italian supermarket in Milan on Thursday.

‘We all said in the group chat when we heard the news that we would hold up Mari’s shirt,’ Nelson added.

‘Hopefully he will see the gesture and know that he is still very much a part of the group.’
