Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed for over-rotating his squad and claims wasted £60m on summer signing Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea have largely impressed since Potter replaced in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat but suffered their first defeat under the former Brighton boss on Saturday.
Potter would have hoped to enjoy a better return to the Amex Stadium but saw his Chelsea side beaten 4-1 as the Blues slipped three points outside of the top-four places.
Potter made two changes to the Chelsea team that beat RB Salzburg in the in midweek, with deadline-day signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropping out of the side.
Agbonlahor cannot understand why Aubameyang did not start against Brighton and has criticised Potter’s rotation at Chelsea.
The former Aston Villa winger has also accused Chelsea of wasting £60m on Cucurella, who completed a big-money move from Brighton in August.
He told : ‘When I watch Cucurella, since he’s been at Chelsea… maybe [there are] two games maximum where he looked OK.

‘He got dragged off after 36 minutes against Manchester United and was sacrificed for [the change of] formation, today [he was] sacrificed in the 64th minute.
‘£60million they paid for him… and you’ve got Ben Chilwell sitting on the bench. Why is Aubameyang not starting? Why is Chilwell not starting? These players can play two games in a week.
‘There’s only a few weeks before the World Cup so these players can play more often than Potter wants to play them.
‘There’s been too much rotation and Cucurella looks like a bad £60m spent by Chelsea for me.’
